A Sublette woman and her 11-year-old passenger were injured when a semi trailer hit them Thursday night at the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and U.S. Highway 160 west of Sublette.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Rosa Ochoa, 49, was stopped in the northbound lane at the intersection waiting to turn west when her 2000 Mercury was struck by a northbound 2000 Peterbilt driven by Steven Garrett, 57, of Amarillo, Texas.
Garrett’s truck then went into the west ditch and rolled over. The KHP reported he may have sustained “possible injuries.”
Ochoa and her passenger, an 11-year-old boy from Sublette, were both taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City for treatment of their injuries, according to the report.
All involved were wearing seat restraints, according to KHP.
