Mary F. Velasquez, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at the Legacy at Park View in Ulysses.

She was born July 13, 1923, to Frank and Domitilia (Cisneros) Fuentes in Walsenburg, Colo.

She married Enrique Cordova in 1938. He died in 1939.

She then married Alfonso Velasquez June 1, 1941, in Mosquero, N.M. He died Nov. 5, 2002.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Liberal.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Velasquez, Baker, Okla., Raymond Velasquez and wife, Irene, Ulysses, Tommy Velasquez and wife, Diana, Yukon, Okla., Abel Velasquez, Liberal, and Joseph Velasquez and wife, Cindy, Turpin, Okla.; five daughters, Viola Kautz and husband, Leroy, Arthur City, Texas, Dorothy Millen, Liberal, Irene Kemper and husband, Eddie, Marietta, Okla., Maxine Montoya and husband, Jimmy, Tucumcari, N.M., and Shirley Montano and husband, Ruben, Colorado Springs, Colo.; 36 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.

o Welcoming of the body will be at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal.

Vigil and rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, and funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, both at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, with the Rev. Jim Dieker presiding.

Burial will follow at the Restlawn Cemetery, Liberal.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Legacy at Park View or St. Catherine Hospice, both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, KS 67880.
