JOHN L. EBISCH
John Lee Ebisch, 82, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at his daughter’s home in Fort Worth, Texas.
He was born Oct. 9, 1926, to John and Matilda Armittie Huddleston Ebisch in Guymon, Okla.
He married Jo Ann Cox July 8, 1952, in Clayton, N.M. She died April 4, 1992.
He attended school in Hooker, Okla., graduating with the class of 1947.
In his junior year of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving one year at the end of World War II. He returned home after reaching Nagasaki in Japan after the bomb drop. He worked as a roughneck for Republic Natural Gas. He continued with Mobile Oil retiring in 1986 as a plant supervisor after 32 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker.
He enjoyed traveling to Arkansas, California and Laughlin, Nev., camping, fishing and bird hunting, and he was an OU and Dallas Cowboy fan. He also enjoyed working in the yard and visiting his sisters.
Survivors include one son, John C. Ebisch, Woodward, Okla.; two daughters, Charlene Savedra and husband, Charlie, Socorro, N.M., Esther Niemann and husband, Jerry, Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren, Charity, Charee, Charlie, Amy, Jerrod, Joseph, John, Jennifer, Joni
and Tyler; and three great grandchildren, Kamlee, Noah and Sam.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and eight sisters, Mattie, Mary, Gertrude, Jo, Bessie, Freida, Esther and Ruth.
o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Hooker with the Rev. Gary Flynt presiding.
Burial will be at the Hooker Cemetery.
