An accident west of Montezuma left one man dead and two individuals uninjured shortly after noon on Saturday.
According to the release from the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 1998 Chevrolet Truck driven by James P. Kellner, 21, of Montezuma was involved in an accident with a 1989 International Truck pulling a 1993 Timpte trailer driven by David K. Teichroeb, 20, also of Montezuma were involved in the accident.
The accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. on County Road 9, just south of County Road EE or .3 miles west of Montezuma on U.S. Highway 56 and 1.6 miles south on County Road 9 in Gray County, according to the KHP release.
The release noted Kellner was northbound on County Road 9. Teichroeb was southbound on County Road 9, and Pellner struck Teichroeb. Pellner came to rest facing westbound. Teichroeb came to rest facing eastbound.
Pellner died as a result of injuries from the accident. Teichroeb and his 11-year-old passenger were both unharmed. Safety restraints were not in use by any of the individuals involved in the accident, according to the report.
