MEADE – Theodore A. “Ted” Winter, 90, died Monday, Sept. 27, 2010, at Meade District Hospital.
He was born Aug. 16, 1920, to Alec Horton Bessie (Pletcher) Winter in Atoka, Okla.
He married Hazel Hickey in 1946 in Ashland. She survives.
He attended school in Oklahoma.
After his education, he began working for a family business in Texas. He later joined the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was the owner and operator of Ted’s Laundry and Cleaners for more than 60 years.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, serving on the board of directors and singing in the church choir.
He was a member of the VFW and a former member of the Meade Roping Club and Kiwanis International.
He enjoyed many sporting events, including football, boxing, wrestling, baseball, hunting and fishing.
He is also survived by two sons, Ted Winter, Meade, and David Winter, Meade; one daughter, Janice Stone, Ozawkie; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by one son, Danny Lynn Winter; one brother, Mack Winter; one infant brother; and one grandson, Ryan Stone.
o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade, with the Rev. Ron Willard presiding.
Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.
Friends may call until 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
Memorials are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home.
