L&T staff report

Seward County’s search to replace Galen McSpadden as athletic director has narrowed its search down to three.

alt“We’re moving along at a pace the board has requested,” said SCCC President, Dr. Ken Trzaska. “Everyone is eager to move forward, to see positive energy around this change. At the same time, stakeholders from the community, to coaches, instructors, and most important of all, our student-athletes, depend on our commitment to taking steps to find the right person for this position.”

McSpadden resigned form his duties as athletic director Dec. 18, and the college established a Jan. 23 deadline for applicants.

The interview committee perused the initial applicants and narrowed the field to eight semi-finalists who were interviewed via Skype, an online video service.

From those, the field was narrowed to three, and those finalists will have on-campus visits including meeting the faculty, the Board of Trustees, the executive team, and the public will also be allowed to meet the three finalists.

The final recommendation to the board is expected at the March 6 meeting.
