Are you ready for some Goofy Golf? The Epic PCS Fifth Annual Goofy Golf Tournament for the Seward County United Way will be conducted from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Grif Golf at Blue Bonnet Park.
“Epic PCS is our tournament sponsor again this year,” Kay Burtzloff, director of the Seward County United Way, said. “We really appreciate their support and hope that people will come out and enjoy a great day of miniature golf. I really admire how Epic PCS supports many worthwhile causes in our community and their commitment really shows.”
The cost of the tournament is $2 for a two-youth team, $3 for a youth/adult team and $4 for a two-adult team. Youth players are 15 years old or younger.
“Teams don’t have to register ahead of time, they just have to show up the day of the tournament,” Burtzloff said.
On certain holes, the golfers will have special challenges. On one hole, they have to golf standing on one leg. At another hole, they will be using swimming noodles for their golf clubs. There will be five special challenge holes in the tournament. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded in the three categories.
One hole will be designated as the “hole-in-one” prize hole. The first golfer to score a hole-in-one will get a $25 Chamber Gift Certificate.
“Everyone seems to have a lot of fun at our tournament and it’s a great way to showcase the facility. Kids Inc. has been one of our agencies for years and this is their way of supporting United Way and what it does for them,” she said. “We wanted to keep the cost of playing low this year so that families can feel free to come out, have a great time and not spend a lot of money.”
Burtzloff said there are still
sponsorship spots available for the tournament.
“We have hole sponsorships for $25 and banner sponsorships for $100,” Burtzloff said. “It’s our sponsors that help to make this a financial success. Last year, we raised more than $3,000 with this tournament.”
“I hope that everyone supports our sponsors the way they have supported us,” Burtzloff said. “They’ve made it possible for us to have a fun fundraiser where we can give out trophies and prizes and still raise money for our 28 agencies.”
