Above: Authorities investigate the scene of a train-semi collision early this morning at Eighth Street and east U.S. Highway 54. The call went out at 6:55 a.m. that a possible injury accident occurred between the train and a semi hauling boxes of beef from National Beef. No official report was available at press time, but it was disclosed the driver was not injured. LEFT: The engine on the westbound train sits about 100 yards west of the Eighth Street intersection with not only insulation from the refrigerated trailer, but boxes of beef still clinging to the front. There are even pieces of beef on the engine’s ladder. Crews started hauling off the tractor and trailer around 8:30. Daily Leader photos/
