SUBLETTE – George Sterling Owings, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, after a battle with cancer.
He was born Aug. 25, 1933, to Vance and Edith (McClure) Owings in Cassville, Mo.
He married Dora Lee Noonan Dec. 29, 1957. She preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Michael Owings (Brian Johns), Wichita, Jolene Anglin (Jerry Darling), Arlington, Texas, and Brenda (Monte) Hank, Grand Prairie, Texas; one sister, Clarabelle Elliott, Bartlesville, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Douglas (Cole) Owings, Overland Park, Denise (Ethan) Jakob, Holcomb, Joel and Seth Anglin, Arlington, Keshia, Christopher and McKenzie Hank, Grand Prairie; two great-grandchildren, Faolan and Rowan Jakob, Holcomb; one daughter-in-law, Sondra (Robert) Owings-Schiffelbein, Garden City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Patrick Douglas, his brothers, Charles Owings and John Carl Owings, his sisters, Emella Roller and Annabelle McDaniel, and his grandsons, Bradley Shea and Brian Scott Anglin.
o A Celebration of Life gathering took place at Arbrook Retirement Community.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dudley Township Cemetery in Satanta.
