GARDEN CITY – Laban Ira Wright, 90, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

He was born May 25, 1920, to John I. and Ila C. (Meyers) Wright in Olmitz.

He married Joyce E. Corrigan May 25, 1946, in Garden City.

He worked in appliance repair for most of his life. He owned and operated Bowman’s Appliance from 1956 to 1970. He later worked for Sears and Jarmer’s until his retirement in 1985.

He was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness in 1940.

He enjoyed camping with his family, playing horse shoes, singing and playing his guitar and harmonica.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda and husband, Mike Grimsley, Garden City, Sandra and husband, Leon Crone, Garden City, and Rhonda and husband, Dann Bartos, Garden City; five sisters, Lavina Bazone, Oakhurst, Okla., Ila Ivey, Amarillo, Texas, Violet Dishman, Pratt, Carol Garcia, Pratt, and Frances Booth, Liberal; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.

o Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City.

Memorial service took place immediately following the graveside service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Garden City.

Memorials are suggested to World Wide Work of Jehovah’s Witnesses in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
