MEADE – Carol Marguerite (Howe) Thompson, 81, died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at “Angel’s Touch” in Omaha, Neb.
She was born Dec. 25, 1928, to Jack and Stella Howe in Stevens County.
She married Richard L. “Dick” Thompson in July 1946 in Hugoton. He preceded her in death.
She attended public schools in Oklahoma and graduated from Hugoton High School.
She worked in food service for several years as head cook at Meade High School. After leaving Meade, she worked as a college housemother in Lawrence, Norman, Okla., Tucson, Ariz., and the last 15 years at the University of California, Berkley before retiring in Mesa, Ariz.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Evans, Topeka, Doug (Kathleen) Thompson, Phoenix, and Jan (Bob) Elffner, Omaha, Peggy (Kem) Golliher, Topeka, Bill “Bobe,” Bakersfield, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, Danny, three brothers, Carl, Murray and Kenneth Howe, and sister Vernona “Nonie” Gracey.
o Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
