Seventh Grade 

After holding an 18-11 halftime lead, the West Warriors had to survive overtime to advance to the second round of the Ark River Middle School seventh grade tournament with a 39-33 win over Dodge City.

West had four free throw opportunities with less than 10 seconds to play in regulation, but missed all four.

Dodge had a last-second shot miss before the extra period.

West dominated the overtime, outscoring Dodge City 10-4 to earn the win and advance to the second round to face top-seeded Kenneth Henderson.

Britton Abbott scored 17 points, Brandon Terrazes scored six and Mauricio Neal scored six.

South’s season ended with a 40-15 loss to Abe Hubert.

Kyler Ward scored six for the Apaches in the loss. Marcus Phillips had five.

A slow start doomed the Apaches. South was shut out in the first quarter, 12-0.



Eighth grade

South’s eighth grade season came to and end Monday with a 45-13 loss to Dodge City in the opening round of the Ark River Middle School tournament at West.

South caused some defensive problems for Dodge City early, but the Apaches struggled to score.

West received a first round bye and will face Dodge City at 6 p.m.

The Warrior B-team earned a first-round win and will face Abe Hubert at 4 p.m. Both games will be played at West.
