BRADY, Neb. – Gwen Mein, 62, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at her home at Jeffrey Lake in Nebraska.

Gwen was born July 6, 1948, to Lee and Marjorie (Meyer) Struthers in Algona, Iowa.

She married Tom Mein April 1, 1970, at the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa.

She graduated in 1966 from Central High School in Sioux City. Following high school, Gwen attended Wayne State College where she attained a bachelor’s degree in education with a minor in business.

She was a member of Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg, Neb. She had previously served as a lector and communion minister at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Liberal.

She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, Penny Watchers Club and was a Mary Kay consultant.

She enjoyed golf and was the Ladies Golf Association Champion in Liberal in 1990 and 1992. She also enjoyed her family, faith, sewing, being outdoors and traveling.

Survivors include her parents; her husband, Tom Mein, Brady; son, Casey (Nadine) Mein, Liberal; two daughters, Amy (Rod) Kutemeier and Andrea (Matthew) Pritchard, all of Lawrence; three brothers, Rod (Wendy) Struthers, Stuart, Fla., Steve (Sue) Struthers, Sioux City, Mark (Terry) Struthers, Zimmerman, Minn.; two sisters, Lori (John) Stivers, Blue Eye, Mo., Kim (Dave) Flom, North Sioux City, Iowa; six grandchildren, Corey, Sarah and Ryan Mein, Valarie and Sabrina Kutemeier and Andrew Pritchard; and many other relatives and friends.

o Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg with Father Don O’Brien as celebrant.

Cremation will follow at a later date.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Our Lady Of Good Counsel Church in Gothenburg with a rosary starting at 7 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory.
