SUBLETTE – Donald N. Schmidt, 88, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
He was born June 16, 1922, to Albert N. and Margaret (Jeffers) Schmidt in Cairo, Kan.
He married Bryana M. Hawes Hefner Oct. 18, 1980, in Sublette. He died April 28, 2006.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from December 1942 to January 1946. He was a retired farmer.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sublette.
He was a member of the Lyons Club and a Scoutmaster in Towner, Colo. He was a member of Easter Star and the Masonic Lodge, both of Scott City. He received his 60-year pin for the Masonic Lodge on April 19, 2009.
Survivors include three daughters, Quenana Liggett and husband, Larry, Tescott, Sherry Leonard and husband, Lynn, Sublette, and Rose “Mimi” Kramer and husband, Tom, McPherson; one brother, Darrell Schmidt and wife, Helen, Hugoton; one sister, Glenda Koehn and husband, Loid, Sharon Springs; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 16 nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, C.Q. Hefner III; one brother, Dwayne Schmidt; and one sister, Marjorie Trickey.
o Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Sublette with the Rev. Kent Scott presiding.
Burial will be at the Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette with Masonic services.
Friends may call until 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home.
