FOWLER – Wilma L. Meyer, 99, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at the Fowler Nursing Home.

She was born November 11, 1909, to J.B. and Maude (Peavey) Eccleston in Stone County, Mo.  

She married Clifford Meyer June 21, 1933, in Kinsley. He died June 18, 1972.

She attended the Fowler school system, graduating from Fowler High School in 1928.  She later attended Emporia State University.

She assisted her husband with farming duties while maintaining the family home.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and the Lake View Club, all of Fowler.  

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, gardening, attending to her flowers, yard work, painting, playing cards and assisting others.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Meyer, Fowler, and Ronnie Meyer and wife, Sue, Hugoton; two brothers, Aaron Eccleston, Fowler, and Thurman Eccleston, Wichita; one sister, Eula Chipman, Dodge City; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren;            six step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ed, Viv and Orval Eccleston; and one sister, Martha Nichols.

o Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fowler United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.

Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery.

Friends may call until 7 p.m. today, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.   

Memorials are suggested to the Fowler Nursing Home or the Fowler United Methodist Church in care of the mortuary.
