SUBLETTE – Leland “L.G.” Meairs, 79, died Friday, June 4, 2010, at Satanta District Hospital.
He was born Oct. 24, 1930, to Laurence Gilbert and Helen Arilla (Fansler) Meairs in Haskell County.
He married Wanda Lou Reimelt April 23, 1950, in Sublette. She survives.
He was a farmer, rancher and private pilot.
He was a member of the Christian Church of Sublette.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past member of the Haskell County Fair Board for 12 years, cemetery board, a Shriner, a charter member of JCs and past Farm Bureau member.
His hobbies were visiting, camping and cooking.
Other survivors include one son, James Lane Meairs, Sublette; two daughter, Terry Lynn Phoenix and husband, Larry, Sublette, and Sandra Kay Lingg and husband, Pat, Stockton; one brother, Earl Meairs, Sublette; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James Lane Meairs, four sisters, Betty Watson, Electa Chaloupek, Viola Near and Helen Geist; and one step sister, Marjorie Burr.
o Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Christian Church of Sublette with Minister David Erwin presiding.
Burial will be at the Haskell County Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Haskell County Funeral Home.
