Annabell “Ann” Underwood, 90, died Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at her residence.

She was born April 28, 1920, to George and Pearl Alice (Keller) Hartman in Barber County.

She married Norman E. Underwood Dec. 10, 1938, in Harper. He died in 1982.

She graduated in 1938 from Cherokee (Okla.) High School. During her 8th grade year, she played basketball for the high school team, and while she was a senior, she played basketball for Northwest Oklahoma State in Alva, Okla.

She worked as a nurse’s aide at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal for 17 years, and she had also worked as an assistant telephone operator and an assistant postmaster in Waldron, worked for Dr. Duffy in Anthony from 1960 to 1963 and during the Korean War, worked at Boeing Aircraft.

She was an avid bowler.

Survivors include one son, Ronnie Underwood and wife, Kim,     Stroud, Okla.; nine grandchildren; many great and great-great-grandchildren; and one daughter-in-law, Nancy Underwood, Andale.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Than Underwood, four brothers and five sisters.

o Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev Rex Petty presiding.

Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Waldron Cemetery.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers and plants, memorials are suggested to Seward County Community College/Area Vo-tech School Foundation for the Nursing Dept. in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS 67901.
