Funeral service for David Donald Woods, 58, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2008, at the Parkview Christian Church.

David Donald Woods was born January 8, 1950, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the son of Joe Donald and Edna (Borrel) Woods and died December 2, 2008, in Chickasha.

David graduated from Lawton High School. He attended Midwest Christian College in Oklahoma City and graduated from Ozark Christian College in Missouri. He served as youth minister and supply preacher while attending college.

He and Retta Revel were married January 3, 1975.

David served as minister of First Christian Church in Hurst, Illinois. He served as minister of Central Christian Church in Liberal, Kansas. He also served as president of Lions Club in Liberal and was president of the Chamber of Commerce in Liberal. David came to Chickasha in April of 2000 to serve as sr. minister of Parkview Christian Church.

He was past president of Chickasha Optimist Club, was a member of the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce, serving as an Ambassador. David was going to serve on the Chickasha Library Board. He was also on the Board of Directors of Christ on Campus at OU.

David was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include wife, Retta Woods of the home; 2 sons, David Nathanael Woods and wife, LeeAnn, of Chickasha, and Joseph Dylan Woods and wife, Rose, of Chickasha; 5 grandchildren, Ethen Plemons, Jordan Woods, Dylan Woods, Emma Woods and Hazel Woods; 1 sister, Mary Laesser of Lawton; and 1 brother, Weldon Woods of Tennessee.

o Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Parkview Christian Church.
