ULYSSES – H. W. “Bill” Ford, 78, died Saturday, May 22, 2010, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita.
He was born Aug. 25, 1931, to Clarence and Eda (Wilkins) Ford in Storm Lake, Iowa .
He married Barbara Wild June 20, 1954, in Lincoln, Neb. She survives.
He graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in agronomy.
In the 1960s, he transferred to Ulysses with Dekalb. He then worked for Ulysses Irrigation Pipe Company as an irrigation pipe salesman and retired from T&L Irrigation.
He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, Iowa State Alumni Association and the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses.
He enjoyed horse racing and all sports.
Other survivors include one son, Mike and wife, Pearl, Beaver, Okla.; three daughters, Diane and husband, Brad Nickelson, Clearwater, Karen and husband, Eric Manuel, Littleton, Colo., and Martha and husband, Chris Stahl, Wichita; four sisters, Bobbie Ford, West Des Moines Iowa, Marlene Stille, Storm Lake, Iowa, Louise Ford, Storm Lake, and Judy Stilwell, Fort Dodge, Iowa; and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
o Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with the Rev. Wayne Flanders presiding.
Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
