Obituary

SUBLETTE – Velma Burgess, 91, died Saturday, May 1, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Greeley, Colo.

She was born May 29, 1918, to Alvin and Rena (Hoffman) Stimpert on a farm near Bucklin.

She married Floyd “Toad” Burgess Aug. 24, 1940, in Sublette. He died Nov. 2, 1985.

She attended beauty school.

Survivors  include one son, Steve Burgess and wife, Ann, Garden City; one daughter, Sandra Hill, Greeley; one brother, Waldo Stimpert, Bucklin; one sister, Norma Seibel and husband, Stanley, Bucklin; two grandchildren, Stephanie Blackburn and Tammie Burgess; three great-grandchildren, Lexie Blackburn, Payton Blackburn and Colby Blackburn; and other relatives and friends.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dwayne Stimpert and Melvin Stimpert.

o Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette with the Rev. Kent Scott presiding.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Haskell County Funeral Home.
