The Northeast Liberal Leadership Committee (NELL) conducted another successful Spring community clean-up on Saturday. According to vice chairman Richard Mason, committee members and volunteers cleaned each alley from Washington to Calvert and Fourth Street to Fifteenth.
“We would like to thank all who participated in this endeavor,” Mason said. “One: the City of Liberal who gave us free access to the landfill. Two: To those who gave their personal time, labor, pick-ups and trailers. Three: To the youth group (Adolescent Support Services), who without their help, this task would have been more difficult to achieve.”
Committee members of NELL and volunteers shared hot dogs, sodas and chips for lunch at Mahuron Park courtesy of NELL Chairman Ivanhoe Love Jr.
“As we were having lunch, I was, again, impressed and elated at the diversity I observed,” Mason said. “There were young people, middle-aged people, older people, Latinos, African Americans and whites.
“Again, I thought to myself how wonderful it is for people to come together like this – working together on common ground for the common good of all in our community and the City of Liberal,” Mason added.
