ULYSSES – Erasmo Morales, 76, died Thursday, April 15, 2010, at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses.

He was born July 2, 1933, to Fernando Nieto and Macedonia Morales in San Pedro, Chihuahua, Mexico.

He married Manuela Vasquez Nov. 27, 1957 in Sta. Elena, Chihuahua, Mexico. She survives.

He armed for Kirby Clawson. In 1974, he moved to Ulysses and he worked for Sweazy Construction in pipeline construction.

He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Lakin.

He loved to be outdoors, fishing and hunting.  He could clean and skin a deer and took pride in teaching his children this skill.  Erasmo enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Other survivors include, five sons, Carlos Morales and wife, Blanca, Ulysses, Jesus Morales and wife, Edita, Palm City, Fla., Jose Ramon Morales and wife, Amy, Ulysses, Evelio Morales, Ulysses, and Estevan Morales, Ulysses; three daughters, Olivia Galaviz and husband, Erasmo, Ulysses, Leticia Chavez and husband, Marcos, Ulysses, Evelia Castilleja and husband, Arnoldo, Ulysses; two brothers, Socorro Morales, Fort Stocton, Texas, Eladio Morales, Satanta; two sisters, Maria Aranda, Elkhart, and Martina Aranda, Elkhart; 24 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Erasmo Jr.; and two brothers, Jose Felix Acosta and Guadalupe Morales.

o Evening service will be at 7 p.m. today, at  the Roselane Church of God in Ulysses.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Roselane Church of God in Ulysses with Pastor Angel Martinez presiding.

Burial will be at the Arkalon Cemetery in Liberal.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.

Memorials are suggested to the Erasmo Morales Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
