PRATT – Mary Elizabeth (Bailey) McDowell, 85, died April 6, 2010, at Lakewood Senior Living Center in Pratt.

She was born Nov. 30, 1924, to Jessie Hughie and Lola Mae (Long) Otstott in Preston.

She married Francis Dean Bailey Sept. 8, 1946.

She then married James P. “Cotton” McDowell May 26, 1976. He died Feb. 14, 1985.

She managed the Jayhawk Café in Pratt. She worked in the shipping and handling department at Cross Manufacturing. Later, she worked at Gibson’s Discount Center, Pratt, where she retired in 1988.

She was a member of Pratt Rebecca Lodge, serving as Past Nobel Grand, and was also active in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by three sons, William H. “Bill” Bailey and wife, Annette, Wichita, Yoland L. Bailey and wife, Monique, Liberal, and Merle W. Bailey and wife, Judi, Wichita; two daughters, Deana K. Farnsworth, Chandler, Ariz., and Janice A. Bedore and husband, Rick, Tempe, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert E. Bailey; four brothers, Jesse, Charles, Marion and Eugene Otstott; and five sisters, Ruth Arnold, Rose Wenciker, Audrey Haney, Wanda Ray and Blossom Banitt.

o Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Larrison Moruary of Pratt with the Rev. Dan Ferguson presiding.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Pratt.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at Larrison Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to Elder Care of Kansas and the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
