L&T staff report

The Lady Redskin junior varsity tennis team traveled to Cimarron Tuesday and came home with second place tournament finish.

No. 1 singles player Nikki Gill took third with a 3-2 performance.

“Both losses were hard fought and could have gone either way,” Liberal JV coach David Short said.

The No. 1 doubles team of Alexandra Loys and Jazmin Murillo finished with a 3-1 record and a second place finish.

“They came within one point and one very unfortunate incident from beating the first place team from Garden City,” Short said. “They played great together.”

No. 2 singles player Cassandra San Luis went 1-3.

“She played her heart out but was also battling a little bit of sickness,” Short said.

The No. 2 doubles team of Ana Garcia and Ana Gonzales took second with a 3-1 performance.

“They played by far their best series of matches at Cimarron and battled the first place team from Garden City very hard.”

The junior varsity will travel to Scott City Thursday.
