A Blanchard, Okla., woman is listed in stable condition at a Wichita hospital following an accident over the Labor Day weekend in Beaver County, Okla.
Around 7:25 a.m. Saturday, Kara Pelton, 41, of Blanchard, was northbound on U.S. Highway 83 about eight miles south of Turpin, Okla., according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Pelton was driving a 2012 GMC at the same time a 2013 Kenworth, driven by Gregorio Martinez-Flores, 75, of Beaver, Okla., was also northbound on Hwy. 83.
The OHP reported the Kenworth had turned onto U.S.-83 and was coming up to speed, when the agency said the GMC was following too closely and struck the Kenworth from behind.
Martinez-Flores was not injured in the accident, but Pelton was initially taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal. She was later flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, where she was admitted with head, leg and arm external injuries. She is listed in stable condition.
The OHP said seat belts were equipped and in use in both vehicles. Pelton had been pinned in her vehicle for approximately one hour, according to the report.
