HOOKER, Okla. – Margaret Joan Thompson, 81, died Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at Morton County Care Center in Elkhart.

She was born July 31, 1928, to Austin Milton “Bill” and Clara (Kratzke) Sanderson in Melvern.

She married Laurence A. Thompson Oct. 15, 1946.

She graduated from Melvern High School in 1946.

She worked for the Hooker Public Schools cafeteria, Collingwood/ADM Grain of Hough, Okla., and The Hooker Advance. The couple moved to Straight, Okla., – Cities Service Gas Co. plant – in January 1950.

She enjoyed supporting her children and grandchildren at their athletic events.

She is survived by two sons, Larry Thompson, Liberal, and Ron Thompson, Colorado City, Texas; three daughters, Linda Gray and husband, Terrell, Boise City, Okla., Marci Farris and husband, Don, Norman, Okla., and Billye Fischer and husband, Dick, Hooker;14 grandchildren, Larry Alan Thompson, Durango, Colo., Kevin Thompson, Bentonville, Ark., Travis Gray and wife, Krista, Boise City, Tricia Gray, Albuquerque, N.M., Denise Benzer and husband, Jon, Edmond, Okla., Marty Farris and wife, Ronni, Oklahoma City, Jeff Thompson and wife, Tammie, Yukon, Okla., Jeanna Thompson, Yukon, Cassey Thompson, Alva, Okla., Michelle Rutz, Pond Creek, Okla., Matt Kopf and wife, Dru, Newcastle, Okla., Mark Kopf and wife, Katrina, Longdale, Angela Flanagan and husband, Courtney, Hooker and Leigh Ann King and husband, Casey, Cyril; 16 great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Pat Thompson, Canton; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Dorothy June Lilly, Frances Jean Frantz and Lola Ione Frantz; and one niece, Marlene Lilly.

o Celebration of life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Hooker, with Pastor Jim Roebuck and Brother Randy Caddell presiding.

Burial will follow at Hooker Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children or the First Baptist Church Building Fund in care of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home Inc., P.O. Box 745, Hooker, OK 73945.
