JOHNSON – Vivian Storey Shore, 90, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson.
She was born Nov. 3, 1919, in Girard and raised by her paternal grandparents.
She married Lewis Shore Nov. 24, 1949, in Coats. He survives.
She graduated from Pittsburg College High School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnson. She taught first grade Sunday school and directed several Christmas plays.
She volunteered at Big Bow Grade School and Stanton County High School, was a project leader for the 4-H Club, and was a lifetime member of the Ulysses American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 79.
She was a farmwife, mother, seamstress and cook.
She is also survived by one daughter, Shannon Howell and husband, Richard, Overland Park; two grandchildren, Patrick Howell, Overland Park, and Kelly Bukaty and husband, Nate, Overland Park; and one great-grandson, Benjamin Patrick Bukaty, Overland Park; one sister-in-law, Ella Catherine Highfill, Wichita; one cousin, Jim Dixon, Montrose, Colo.; and special friend and caregiver Lupe Orozco, Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her father, R.J. Storey and wife, Anna Irene; her mother, Nancy Gardiner and husband, Emory; one sister, Wanda Shriver and husband, Paul; two brothers-in-law, Deane Highfill and Robert Shore; and one sister-in-law, Lucile Shore.
o Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church in Johnson, with the Rev. Don Hasty presiding.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Coats Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
