Stress is a daily occurrence for people in the U.S. and many people have little to no clue how to properly manage it when it comes.
Liberal citizens will soon have an opportunity to learn these exact skills at a stress manangement seminar to be given at The Classy Rack starting at 6 p.m. Sunday The seminar will show where stress comes from and how to deal with it in different areas of life such as if it’s job-related stress, family-related stress or illness.
“If you don’t learn how to manage your stress, it can kill you. It makes life so much easier when you understand how to manage it because everyone has stress, we all have stress,” Peggy Lloyd, manager of The Classy Rack, said. “If you go to a new school, you have stress; the light turns red when you’re about to go through, it’s stressful; or if you hear a siren, that’s stressful. You need to learn how to manage it so it doesn’t take you down.”
Lloyd, who will be the speaker at the seminar, said that not being able to manage stress can bring about negative health side effects including heart attacks and strokes, among others. She added that while she has no medical or related degrees, she did spend 15 years teaching health education classes and the things she will discuss in her seminar are all backed up by numerous studies.
“I don’t think people will say ‘oh, that’s a bunch of bunk.’ I think people will understand – because that’s what we want them to do, understand – and take the knowledge home with them,” Lloyd said. “At the end of the class we do say ‘all of this is not going to do you a bit of good unless you choose to do something with the knowledge you’ve received’ so whether or not they’ll go home and do something is up to them.”
The class will give atendees the knowledge and Lloyd said just knowing this advice will help people in the future.
“They’’ll automatically be thinking in the future ‘I know how to deal with this,’” Lloyd said.
People can still sign up for the seminar before Sunday night and can do so by calling The Classy Rack at 624-2775 or by signing up in person at the store itself.
