MANTER – George Clay Tedder, 83, died July 31, 2014 in Wichita.

He was born Nov. 7, 1930 to George W. and Belle C. (Hosford) Tedder in Forgan, Okla.

He married Muriel Walker on Nov. 22, 1953 in Manter. She preceded him in death April 22, 2000.

He graduated from Englewood High School in Englewood in 1948 and entered into the U.S. Army serving from 1950 to 1952 in Korea and Alaska.

He started out as a Roughneck and worked at Collingwood Grain, Manter Coop, Fowler Equity, L&N Engine, Stanton County Implement, Tedder Machine, Phil Blocker, Inc. and Josserand Farms.

He enjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with his family.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion 40-8, Moose Lodge and The Johnson Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include sons, George R. (Rod) Tedder and wife, Donna, Syracuse and Jerry C. Tedder and wife, Joetta, Manter; fiancee Mary K. Scheer, Manter; sister, Bonnie Graham and husband, Dorwin, Wichita; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lowell B. Tedder; and sister, Berleise Withrow.

• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at the United Methodist Church, Manter, Kansas with Pastor Mary Courtney presiding.

Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson with Military Rites by VFW Post#3684 in Johnson.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.

Memorials are suggested to the Josephine Goodboo Watson Scholarship Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
