Janice Kay Alvarado, 61, died July 8, 2014, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1952, to Lyndell and Margie Louise (Henderson) Vail in Elkhart.
She was a lifetime Morton County resident.
She graduated from Rolla High School in 1970.
She then went to cosmetology school in Hays.
She owned a beauty shop in Elkhart.
She enjoyed playing piano, tending to her plants, reading and writing poetry, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include sons, Quintin Marc Parish and Ali Essman, Oklahoma City, Chris Parish and Tony Parish; daughters, Shauna Rodriguez and Nick Ramirez, Elkhart and Jessica Dawn Gonzalez and Eric Torres, Rolla; brothers, Darrell Vail, Johnson and Howard Vail, Las Vegas; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William "Bart" Barton Parish; granddaughter, Emily Parish; and son-in-law, Joel Rodriguez.
• Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Richfield, with the Rev. Herman Lambrecht presiding.
Burial will follow at the Richfield Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
