Margaret Arliene Boothby, 89, died Saturday, March 20, 2010, at her residence in Liberal.

She was born Feb. 24, 1921, to Homer and Beatrice (Gorman) Fleming in Sherman County, Texas.

She married Ray Edgar Boothby April 24, 1941, in Texhoma, Okla.  He survives.

She was a 1939 graduate of Texhoma High School.

She worked as an office clerk for L. B. Field Insurance Agency from 1957-66 and in the Texas County Assessor’s Office in Guymon, Okla., from 1967 until her retirement in 1983.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Texhoma for 68 years and was in the Philidelphian Sunday school class. She taught children’s Sunday school classes and helped with Vacation Bible School.

She was also a member of the Carnation Garden Club, worked with Brownies and Cub Scouts.

She enjoyed reading and was a seamstress.

Other survivors include one son, David Boothby, Liberal; one daughter, Vedonna Poley and husband, Thomas “Ed,” Liberal; five grandchildren, David Boothby Jr. and wife, Carrie, Temple, Texas; Holly Harp and husband, Larry, Liberal, Gary Geist and wife, Amanda, Liberal, Brandy Edelen, Mustang, Okla., and Chris Boothby and wife, Patricia, Mustang; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Winnifred Humphrey, and one great-grandson, Dalton Geist.

o Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Texhoma, with Pastor Larry Watson and Pastor Gary Stone presiding.

Burial will follow at Texhoma Cemetery.

Frineds may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church of Texhoma in care of Kitch-Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. Second, Liberal, KS  67901.
