MONTEZUMA – Russell Warren Dirks, 80, died Friday, March 19, 2010, at Bethel Home Inc. in Montezuma.
He was born Nov. 30, 1929, to Edwin and Elda (Becker) Dirks in Montezuma.
He married Opal J. Schmidt March 11, 1951, in Montezuma. She died Feb. 10, 2010.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of the Church of God in Christ Mennonite of Montezuma.
Survivors include one son, Daniel Dirks and wife, Sandra, Montezuma; one daughter, Rebecca Redger and husband, Steven, Yuma, Ariz.; four sisters, Wanetta Parks, Johnson, Joan Ensz and husband, Raymod, Osceola, S.D., Gloria Koehn and husband, Wayne, Halstead, and Clarabel Penner and husband, Abe, Iroquois, S.D.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister.
o Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Homeland Mennonite Church in Montezuma with ministers Lyndon Toews and Donald Koehn presiding.
Burial will be at the Homeland Mennonite Cemetery in Montezuma.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Montezuma Funeral Home.
