• L&T staff report

Officials at the Arkalon Ethanol Plant released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:

“On June 29, 2014, an explosion occurred at the Conestoga Holdings – Arkalon plant, located 7 miles east of Liberal. There were no injuries to plant personnel.

“The explosion occurred in the dryer area of the plant, which has temporarily impacted the ability to produce Dried Distillers Grain. However, the plant is running at full production and Wet Distillers Grain continues to be produced at normal quantities.

“The impact of the damage was limited to the plant’s ability to produce DDG’s. It is expected that initial repairs will take five weeks to complete with the goal of being back to normal production within four months.

“The cause of the explosion is currently under investigation. No costs estimates of damage have been determined.”
