Be aware that the forecast may change, check for updates.

Seward County could wind up with as much as 4 inches of snow Friday night, according to a weather forecast released by Seward County Emergency Management Director Greg Standard.

“Most likely, we will receive less than 2 inches,” Standard noted. “None the less, winds in the 20 to 35 mph range may reduce visibility at times and could produce slick roads Friday night and Saturday morning.

“Presently, the deepest snow is expected to fall to the south and east of Seward County, so travel in those areas may be more difficult,” he continued. “Wind chill may be significant, prepare for any outdoor activities or travel.”

The National Weather Service in Dodge City has announced, “Friday: Snow likely, mainly after 2 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 42. Windy, with a north wind between 22 and 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

“Friday night: Snow likely, mainly before 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 25. Windy, with a north wind around 26 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

“Saturday: A 20 percent chance of snow before 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. Windy, with a north northwest wind between 15 and 25 mph.”
