ULYSSES – Gene Garmon, 67, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
He was born July 8, 1942, to Leslie and Ruby Janita (Laforce) Garmon in rural Stevens County.
He married Carole Crouse Dec. 22, 1963, in St. Francis. She survives.
He graduated from Hugoton High School.
He retired as an engineer from Pioneer Electric after 33 years.
He was a former Boy Scout leader, a member of the Ulysses Gun Club and the Grace Lutheran Church.
He was an arrowhead collector. He enjoyed rock collecting and polishing.
Other survivors include three sons, Lance Garmon and wife, Jennifer, Salsbury, Mo., Leslie Garmon and wife, Julie, Topeka, and Bradley Garmon and wife, Jen, Lansing, Mich.; one daughter, Jeannie Berens and husband, Tom, Falcon, Colo.; one sister, Joyce McBride, Wichita; three grandchildren, Christopher Berens, Michael Berens and Kaylie Garmon; one niece, Michelle Coleman and husband Andy, Walla Walla, Wash.; and one sister-in-law, Charlia Garmon, Hugoton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Lewis Garmon.
o Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses.
Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery.
