Who says there’s no home field advantage in summer baseball?

After a rough road trip where the Bee Jays went 1-5, Liberal returned to the familiar surroundings at Brent Gould Field with a vengeance, and El Dorado happened to be the recipient.

The Bee Jays belted two home runs with the wind blowing out and crushed the Broncos 14-3 to remain perfect at home.

Brennan Johnson set the tone early for the Bee Jays with a three-run shot over the left field fence in the first inning.

Justin McCarty pushed the lead to 4-0 in the second with an RBI double.

El Dorado’s pitching staff continued to struggle early, and in the third inning a bases-loaded walk pushed the fifth Bee Jay run across the plate.

JB Olson provided a solid start for the Bee Jays. The right hander prevented the Broncos from crossing the plate for five innings and did not allow an earned run. He finished the night after six innings and did not allow a walk while striking out five.

Liberal added to their 5-0 lead in the bottom of the fifth while the struggling Bronco pitchers couldn’t find the strike zone but did manage to hit three Bee Jay batters and walked two more.

Zach Reding came to the late with the bases loaded and a 7-0 Bee Jay lead and launched a shot to center field that cleared the outfield fence for a grand slam.

The Bee Jays added three more runs before the inning ended, and the nine-run sixth gave the Bee Jays a 14-0 lead.

The Broncos finally scored in the seventh and added another token run in the ninth against Nathan Smythe.

The win moved the Bee Jays to 5-0 at Brent Gould Field and 3-4 in the Jayhawk League.

While the Bee Jays were dominating the Broncos, Wellington was shellacking Hays, 10-0. Dodge City earned its first Jayhawk League win over Derby, 8-7.

The Bee Jays continued the three-game series with El Dorado Saturday and Sunday.
