FOWLER – Gary D. Copenhaver, 59, died Monday, March 15, 2010, at his rural Fowler residence.
He was born July 12, 1950, to L. M. and Ethel M. (Criswell) Copenhaver in Fowler.
He married Delilah Shay Aug. 5, 1973, at the United Methodist Church in Healy. She survives.
He attended the Fowler school system, graduating from Fowler High School in 1968. He attended Dodge City Community College where he received his Associates degree. He later furthered his education at Panhandle State University, in Goodwell, Okla.
He was a farmer and a stockman in partnership with his dad and later his son, Mark.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He also served on the board of directors for the Fowler Residential Care Center, Fowler Co-Op and CMS Electric.
He enjoyed watching classical television shows and farming.
Other survivors include one son, Mark Copenhaver, rural Fowler; one sister of Arizona; one brother-in-law, Vance Shay and wife, Dana, Healy, and their children, Jordan and Camron; one sister-in-law, Peggy Roe and husband, Larry, Oberlin, and their children, Tyler, Rachel and Michael and many relatives and friends.
o Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Fowler, with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding.
Friends may call until 7 p.m. today at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Fowler Threshing Days or the Fowler Residential Care Center in care of the funeral home.
