Through traffic on Kansas Avenue in Liberal was closed at 8 a.m. today at the railroad tracks crossing. The road will be closed to traffic until 5 p.m. Wednesday, according to a spokesman for the Liberal Police Department communications office. The office also confirmed it was at the request of Union Pacific Railroad. A UP Spokesman said the company is installing new crossings. North and south traffic through town can use the track crossings at Western Avenue, Clay, Pershing and U.S. Hwy. 83 bypass. L&T photo/Larry Phillips
