The Seward County Ag Building will come alive Saturday, and belts will be on the line in three fights in Summer Heat 2.

The final fight of the night will feature a title defense when  Liberal’s Mario Muñoz will put his Summer Heat championship belt on the line against Austin’s Carl Perry.

Fighters will be coming from four states to battle in the cage in the Ag Building, and promoter Dave Rine expects a higher level of competition.

“It going to be physical but it’s also going to be technical,” he said. “It’s always going to be physical when you are talking about hand-to-hand combat. But it will also be technical. These guys fighting, on paper and video, they look technical. I’m looking for some good fights. But as they always say, one punch can stop it all.”

The crowd has become more familiar with mixed martial arts as well since cage fighting began in Liberal.

“Fans were used to boxing in those first fights,” Rine said. “In mixed martial arts, that doesn’t happen. The crowd knows what is happening now. We have better competitors, they are better prepared, they know how to eat right, and their technique is way better.”

With better prepared fighters, and three belts on the line with a full card of fights, fans should expect to see some quality bouts.

Tickets are still available at Rine’s American Freestyle Karate, 2281 N. Grant Ave., located behind Elite Motors.

Doors open at 5 p.m. Saturday, and fights start at 7 p.m.
