The White Sox were the first team to defeat a higher seed in the Cal Ripken Tournament Monday with a dominating 20-6 win over the No. 2 seeded Rockies.

The White Sox started with two runs in the first inning, but the Rockies responded with four runs to take a 4-3 lead.

The White Sox used a three-run blast from Hunter Carson to spark a seven-run second inning, and the White Sox jumped out to a 9-4 lead.

Again, the Rockies responded with two more runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to 9-6.

That’s when the White Sox took advantage of their height advantage.

The shorter White Sox at the bottom of the line-up caused problems for the Rockies pitchers, and the White Sox were abel to add two more runs to take an 11-6 lead.

Evan Bayouth was able to strand two Rockies without giving up a run, and the White Sox blew the game open in the top of the fourth with nine runs to take a 20-6 lead.

Hunter Carson pitched the final three outs to preserve the run-rule victory, and the White Sox advanced to the championship game.
