In what was more than likely a preview of the upcoming state track meet, Liberal and Hays battled for the Western Athletic Conference track title Thursday, and it was the Indians who edged out the Redskins for first.

The two teams will participate in different regionals, but the Redskins will have their hands full by facing Carroll and Kapaun.

The Lady Redskins finished fourth.
