Seward County man dies in fire PDF Print E-mail

A fire has claimed the life of a rural Seward County  man Wednesday, May 7, according to a report from Seward County Fire Chief Mike Rice.

“Seward County Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 5000 Block of Road O,” Rice noted. “The fire was under control at (6:34 p.m.), on May 7, and mutual aid was received from Turpin Fire Department.

“The cause is still under investigation by Seward County Fire Department, Seward County Sheriff’s Office and Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office,” he added.

Though the identity of the man was initially withheld due to lack of notification of next of kin, he was later identified as Fermin Ascencio Sr., 42.

His obituary noted his survivors include his wife, four sons and two daughters. His complete obituary is in the May 9 edition of the L&T.
