A Liberal man died Sunday morning when his vehicle went off the road and barreled into the railroad embankment, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

David Andrew Selby, 35, was travelling eastbound on U.S. Highway 54 near the Western Avenue intersection around 2:40 a.m. Sunday when his 2004 Nissan left the roadway and entered the west ditch and “wrecked into the railroad embankment,” according to the report.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was transported to Miller Mortuary.

He was not wearing a seat belt, the report added.
