TODAY

 

• Morning transportation for persons age 55 and older is available from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday through the Liberal Senior Center.  For more information or to schedule a ride, call 624-2511.

 

• Residents at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton play Bingo at 2 p.m. Community members are invited to volunteer or play a game with the residents.

 

• Hugoton Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. at Memorial Hall.

 

• The Perryton Area Parkinson's Disease Support Group will meet Friday, May 9, 2014 at the Mennonite Church, 2821 S. Ash.  Lunch will be provided for the 12 noon meeting.  The program will be given by Jo Bidwell from The Southwest Parkinson's Society in Lubbock, Texas.  Anyone who has PD or has a family member/friend with PD is welcome to attend. SATURDAY

 

• A Kansas concealed carry handgun classs is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Seward County Activity Center located at 810 Stadium Rd. in Liberal. There will be a one-hour lunch break, and lunch is not provided. The certified concealed carry instructor Don Leatherman will be teaching the classs, and fees are $100 per student (cash or check) or $105 if paying by credit card or debit card. Current permit holders can take the class as a refresher course for $20. Students must provide a valid Kansas driver’s license or a valid Kansas non-driver’s ID card and must be 21 years of age. Students must provide their own handgun and ammunition. Ear and eye protection will be provided for range activities. • New Community Missionary Baptist Church hosts a food cupboard beginning at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday. Residents in need should bring identification to receive services. The cupboard is located at the Community Missionary Baptist Educational Center.

 

• The Liberal Area Rape Crisis and Domestic Violence Services Women’s Support Group will meet at 7 p.m. at 909 N. Clay.

 

• The Al Anon Support Group for inividuals whose lives have been affected by family or friends with an alchol problem meets at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday at Club One at 109 W. Second in Liberal. For more information, call 620-544-1533 or 620-629-7273.

• Overeaters Anonymous of Guymon, Okla., will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the AA Club on Main Street across from Homeland in Guymon. All who have a problem with food are welcome to attend.

 

• The Turpin Senior Citizens meets the second and fourth Wednesday at their center in Turpin. A catered meal is erved at noon. Seniors 55 and older are asked to donate $2.50 for their meal. The center is funded by grants and a percentage of Beaver County tax funds. More information is available at 580-778-3527 or 580-778-3487.

 

• Inside Out Kids at the Hugoton Assembly of God, 138 S. Main, beginning with dinner at 6:45 p.m. Program will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Rides are available by calling Pastor Ben Coats at 620-428-1487 before 5:30 p.m.

 

THURSDAY

• The Western Avenue Church of Christ has a benevolent room which is open to the public from 9 to 10 a.m. every Thursday. For those in need of clothing, come by 215 S. Western Ave.

 

• The Liberal Table Tennis Club will meet at 7 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office.
