The Hooker Bulldogs saw their season come to a close with a pair of losses at the regional tournament in Seiling. Hooker lost Game1 to No.2 Binger-Oney,16-0; then lost Game 2 to Canute, 14-4.
In Game 1, Hooker managed just two hits, both singles both in the third inning.
Binger-Oney pitching controlled the game, striking out eight Bulldogs batters in five innings while giving up two walks.
After giving up a homerun to the first Binger-Oney batter Jordan McFarland settled in, and the Bulldogs trailed just 1-0 after two innings. But a pair of walks and a pair of singles led to four runs in the third for Binger-Oney in the third to go up, 5-0.
The floodgates opened in the fifth with 11 runs scored.
In Game 2, Canute wasted no time getting their offense going, with the first eight batters reaching base, including a pair of triples. Canute led 5-0 after one inning.
Jaden Valles got the Bulldogs their first run after he scored on an error. Valles had singled and then stolen second to get into scoring position.
Canute continued the offensive attack, adding four runs in the second and another two in the third to go up, 11-1 after three.
Hooker tried to rally in the fourth. The Bulldogs' Robby Wardlaw (2-2, walk, run scored), Ross Daves (1-2, walk, run scored) and Colton Powell, the 7,8, and 9-hole hitters, all reached base. Then Jordan Kennedy and Brandon Gomez (2-2, double, walk) each doubled to score three runs.
Canute got those three runs back in the fifth to win by run-rule.
Hooker finishes the season 9-12.
