MEADE – Dorothy F. Hardaway, 81, died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at the Meade District Hospital.

She was born Jan. 4, 1933  to Peter and Ruby Faye (Hoskinson) Schield in Plains.

She married Warren L. Hardaway on Oct. 17, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Plains.

She attended the Plains school system, graduating from Plains High School in 1951.

She was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade.

She enjoyed Sudoku, crossword puzzles, playing cards, country western music, watching soap operas, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by sons, Jim Hardaway and wife Annette, Augusta, and Phil Hardaway and wife Jami, Meade; three daughters: Cindy Woodruff and husband Ted, Meade, Kathy Linton and husband Daniel, Cape Fair, Mo. and Lisa Melton, Meade; brother, Carl Schield, Medicine Lodge; cousin, Phyllis Gearhart, Turpin, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husband on Oct. 13, 2012.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Meade.

Burial will follow in the Fowler Cemetery in Fowler.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home.
