Collin Ware pitched five solid innings for the Redskins, but it was a devastating sixth that led to an 8-3 loss Tuesday at The Yard at the Liberal Baseball Complex.
Ware scattered five hits and three runs over five innings of work, but the Redskins struggled to take advantage of base runners early and did not score until the bottom of the fifth to trim Woodwards lead to 3-1.
But the Redskin bullpen struggled in the sixth, and Woodward scored five runs to take an 8-1 lead.
Liberal added single runs in the sixth and seventh but could not make up for the big sixth inning for the Boomers and lost 8-3.
Jared Hasik and Stevie Lira each had doubles for the Redskins, and each also had an RBI.
Tim Fitzgerald also scored a run.
The loss dropped Liberal to 7-5 on the season.
The Redskins will make the three-hour drive straight north to Colby to face the Eagles Friday. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
