A Liberal woman originally arrested in September of last year on charges relating to sexual misconduct with a minor avoided jail time when she was sentenced to probation last month.
Then-31-year-old Nichole Volden, aka Nichole Brown, was arrested on Sept. 21, 2013, and faced four counts of sexual exploitation of a child under 14, three counts of aggravated endangerment of a child and two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior, according to Seward County Attorney Don Scott.
Scott said Tuesday Volden was sentenced for her convictions last month.
“She was sentenced on the 19th of March on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child,” he said. “She was sentenced to 12 months on each count consecutively and then granted probation for 24 months.”
Scott confirmed since she was a convicted sex offender, she would have to register as such with the state.
“Yes, she has to register,” he said, adding even though she didn’t do jail time.
“She got probation,” Scott said. “She didn’t go to prison.”
