Area awakes to April snow PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 April 2014 10:32

ABOVE: Snow accumulations of more than 3 to 5 inches sit atop newspaper vending machines outside the Leader & Times press room earlier today, even as official reports only estimated snowfall was at 3.7 inches and precipitation was only recorded at  0.28 inches. Along with the late season snowfall, winds continued to badger the area with Sunday recordings of at 36 mph gusting to 43 mph.  The snow and ice on roadways did create numerous incidents that included a semi off the road between U.S. Highway 54 and the railroad tracks about one mile east of National Beef. Other vehicles were reported off the roads and in the ditches in all directions from Liberal. For the complete area weather forecast, see PAGE 2A. L&T photos/Larry Phillips
