The Liberal Redskins traveled to Great Bend Tuesday nd earned a Western Athletic Conference split.

Liberal jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning of Game 1 and protected the lead the rest of the way for a 7-4 win.

Collin Ware earned the win, pitching all but the final out and only giving up four runs, three earned, and walking four with one strikeout.

Jared Hasik pitched the final out for the save. He also hit a double , scored, and has two RBIs.

Tim Fitzgerald also had a hit, scored a run and had an RBI.

The nightcap turned into a pitcher’s dual, and despite a strong effort from Hasik, the Redskins dropped Game 2, 2-1.

Liberal took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third, but the Panthers answer with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, and neither team scored in the final four innings.

Hasik pitched all six innings for Liberal and gave up five hits, two runs and two walks while striking out three.

Liberal (3-4) will travel to Guymon Friday for a single game.
